The legal framework on the reception and integration of foreigners stipulates that every municipality is obliged to set up a Municipal advisory committee on integration (Commission consultative communale Intégration - CCCI).
This advisory committee is responsible for the coexistence of all inhabitants and in particular for safeguarding the interests of foreign fellow citizens.

Analysis of the needs and functioning of the CCCI
In 2020, the Department of Integration launched a project to analyse the needs and functioning of CCCIs. The study was based on two steps:
- an online survey in which all members of the CCCIs were invited to participate and share their views
- qualitative interviews with members of about 30 CCCIs, selected for geographical representativeness. The interviews were conducted by an external expert.
