Minister Max Hahn invited to an information session for municipalities

On 25 September 2023, the Minister for Family Affairs and Integration, Max Hahn, invited municipal officials, representatives, agents and members of municipal committees to an information session to present the offers, advice, services and tools made available to municipalities by the Ministry of Family Affairs, Integration and the Greater Region, the National Solidarity Fund (FNS) and the National Social Inclusion Office (ONIS).

In all, some 80 participants attended the event, representing more than a third of the municipalities.

The session was opened by Lou Linster, mayor of Leudelange, who hosted the event at the "An der Eech" cultural centre. The Minister for Home Affairs, Taina Bofferding, also welcomed the participants to the event.

The Minister for Family Affairs and Integration thanked the officials, representatives and agents of the municipalities present for their commitment to the public. "The municipalities have a great deal of responsibility towards their citizens and play an important role in the area of living together and social cohesion. The Ministry of Family Affairs, Integration and the Greater Region and the divisions present today are committed to supporting local authorities in these tasks", said Max Hahn in his welcome address to the participants.

The various divisions of the Ministry of Family Affairs, Integration and the Greater Region, as well as the FNS and ONIS, presented a range of services, tools and instruments available to local authorities to help them provide services to their citizens. These included:

  • Advice, assistance and solutions to help local authorities implement the provisions imposed by the law of 7 January 2022 on the accessibility of places open to the public;
  • Provisions and tools for municipalities to implement intercultural living together for residents and people who work in the respective municipalities, in accordance with the law of 23 August 2023 on intercultural living together;
  • The community service work (TUC) measures implemented in the municipalities and certain social benefits for residents, such as REVIS, the cost-of-living allowance and the energy bonus;
  • Activities offered to the elderly as part of the Aktiv + Clubs set up by local authorities.

After the presentations, participants in the event had the opportunity to exchange views with experts in the various fields at information stands set up by the ministry, the FNS and the ONIS.
