Launch of the information campaign on changing and care tables for adults with special needs

On 4 October 2023, Max Hahn, Minister for Family Affairs and Integration, together with Info-Handicap and Adapth, invited to a press conference to inform about a campaign dedicated to changing and care tables for children and adults with special needs.

"Today, we are officially launching our campaign on changing and care tables for people with special needs," said Max Hahn during the press conference. "With adapted facilities, we are helping people with special needs to change not only in the best hygienic conditions, but also with dignity."

The Minister is further encouraging the adaptation of existing facilities and the installation of changing and care tables for adults in public areas, such as cultural and sports venues and key railway stations. Changing and care tables are needed to enable the incontinence equipment of a person with special needs to be changed in the best possible conditions. They are designed to offer equipment adapted to people with special needs and their assistants, enabling them to change and provide care in complete dignity.

Access changing and care tables can boost the ability of people with special needs to participate fully in public life. For this reason, there are plans to include the subject of these tables in the Accessibility Act.

Together with Info-Handicap and Adapth, the Ministry of Family Affairs, Integration and the Greater Region has developed an informative brochure on the subject as well as stickers, which will be used in the future to mark places equipped with a changing and care table.

The eurewelcome.lu website, managed by Info-Handicap, lists all facilities with a changing and care table. In a second phase, a geolocation system will be introduced to help find the nearest changing and care table.
